There are resources available just over the border that are ready, willing and able to house these people until their asylum hearing. Through donations they feed, provide clean clothes, and a place to sleep. It's not a home but it's safe, dry and staffed by loving people who put their faith into action every day.
We made a connection with BooksFirstChicago a non-profit organization working to help homeless and underprivileged kids get the leg up they need to be successful in school. With their help to distribute we plan to buy and fill 50 backpacks with needed supplies for kids.
When I was on the bus to the airport, I remembered and cringed at how I hated when everyone didn’t act or look the same because it made me feel better about myself but then I was put back on track. We aren’t meant to be cookie cutter people. We’re each made by God in a unique and special way and embracing that idea means embracing Him.
